DTI
The Danish Technological Institute (DTI) is a self-owned and non-for-profit institution. DTI develops, applies and disseminates research and technologically based knowledge for the Danish and international business sectors. As such, DTI participates in R&D projects in close collaboration with leading research and educational institutions in Europe. DTI has more than 1,000 academically qualified experts who cooperate across their specialised divisions to solve the challenges of clients and partners.
Science and technology at DTI
DTI is organised into seven wide-ranging technical divisions, from meat research and society development to life science and materials.
Equipped with a number of advanced laboratory facilities, the Materials Division of DTI develops and provides specialist services relating to material technology. The division’s many laboratories work with materials characterisation from macro to nano level, material and thin film synthesis, testing and evaluation with a primary focus on industrial applications, solutions and innovation.
DTI’s Involvement in ESS
In BrightnESS, DTI is involved in Work Package (WP) 6, Collaboration, Communication and Dissemination, specifically Task 6.4, which is handles the communication and dissemination of the results and progress of BrightnESS. Along with ESS, DTI is the WP6 Co-leader and hence the Institute provides communication on project progress and acts as communications partner to the other partner organisations of BrightnESS.
DTI is home to the cluster Bigscience.dk, which works to build connections between Danish industry and European Big Science facilities and companies active in the Big Science market. Several of the people behind BigScience.dk also serve as Industrial Liaison Officers to various Big Science organisations.
For Denmark, ESS represents both a major investment and a huge opportunity for Danish science, companies and society. DTI will actively promote ESS and potential users of neutron science, and will work to ensure a smooth implementation of the ESS project.
