As one of the first Big Science facilities, the ESS will develop detector technology and data management software simultaneously. This task requires close collaboration, but the results will be worthwhile.
On 27 April, the third BrightnESS Hub Coordinators Meeting took place at the Budapest Neutron Centre in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting, which brings together the representatives of the six BrightnESS Hubs, was hosted by Margit Fabian, Hub Coordinator of the South-East Hub, along with her colleagues.
On 27-28 April 2017, European Spallation Source hosted Natasa Pahlm, Industrial Liaison Officer of the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), and Anna Hall, Vice President and Program Manager for Industry Cluster at IUC Syd. Both institutes aim to support the development of a competitive environment in the innovation ecosystem of ESS.
Greater Copenhagen and Hamburg are both homes to materials-related research facilities. The regions are only about 300 kilometres apart and their geographical proximity opens up possibilities for close scientific collaboration.
On 20 March 2017 five former students of the higher Institute Ven. Ignazio Capizzi of Bronte (CT) successfully performed a measurement with a Hall effect probe on the proton source designed and realised at LNS for the European Spallation Source. The students were the winners of the Italian selection of the Beamline for Schools (BL4S’16) competition.
On 13 March 2017, Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste hosted the 1st BrightnESS South-East Hub Meeting dedicated to the activities linked to In-Kind Contributions (IKC) of Italian and Hungarian Partners of the ESS project.
