Workshop on Future Cooperation between ESS/MAX IV/Greater Copenhagen and DESY/XFEL/Hamburg
On 20 April 2017, more than 20 participants from 14 different institutes came together at the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund to exchange ideas about how to best benefit from ongoing initiatives and strengthen cooperation between research infrastructures based in Hamburg and Greater Copenhagen. A significant part of the discussion focused on technical aspects related to establishing collaboration with academia and industry. Sindra Petersson Årsköld, Senior Adviser at ESS, presented an overview of the ESS project and the ESS instrument suite. Several other speakers briefed the group about the Danish National ESS strategy, the LINX project, MAX4ESSFUN, and also the current and future scientific activities of MAX IV Laboratory, DESY, and XFEL.
The meeting was organised within the framework of the ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society project, which brings together partners from Sweden, Denmark and Norway with the aim to unleash the opportunities that come with the establishment of ESS and MAX IV Laboratory in Lund. The BrightnESS team joined the meeting to explore synergies and ways of collaboration with other ongoing projects and networks.
