Florence Ragon
Florence Ragon is the French Industrial Relations Coordinator for BrightnESS. She has a scientific background in Chemistry of Materials. During her PhD (University of Versailles) and her 2-years post doc experience (University of Sydney), she has been working on hybride materials promising for applications such as the capture of green-house gases. Currently she is working closely with the ESS ILO Antoine Daël at CEA-Saclay.
- I applied for the job in BrightnESS, when CEA came on board as partner in the project and needed an extra person. Having previously worked as a scientist user of a synchrotron, I found the opportunity to work with a spallation source very interesting. My daily work includes lots of communication. Being involved in both WP2 and WP6, I am in daily contact with French In-Kind partners and industry collaborators and involved in outreach activities where I communicate with future industry users of ESS.
Right now, there is a lot of focus on the on-going construction of ESS. I like that BrightnESS also supports ESS in terms of reaching out to future users and communicating how ESS will be useful for the scientific community.
In my view, the key challenges of BrightnESS will be to create synergies with the general ESS organisation and to collaborate with other projects, such as SINE2020. It will also be an exciting challenge to market neutron science – some industries might be interested in using it, but they do not know it yet.
