12th Central European School on neutron techniques
This year 27 doctoral and post-doctoral students, university students and young researchers took part in the school. They arrived from 16 different European and non-European countries, and were interested in the theoretical, and especially in the on-site practical training on the instruments.
The 10 hours’ theoretic lectures were given by local researchers, and by experts from European neutron centres, such as ILL Grenoble, JINR Dubna, University of Vienna, and ESS. During the School, Ferenc Mezei and Esko Oksanen from ESS, gave an up-to-date presentation about the ESS project and presented opportunities about the ESS framework.
The students participated in 15 hours of practical group work. The practical work was conducted by the local instrument scientists on the large angle and small angle diffraction instruments, reflectometer, prompt gamma and neutron activation analysis stations and at the neutron imaging station.
The participants had the opportunity to present their work on a poster and in the form of a short presentation. On the last day they received their well-earned certificates. Special awards were given to the most active participants.
