SYNERGi in Amsterdam brings together industry and academia
The companies Toyota, Sandvik Coromant and OBH Systems presented some of their applications of neutrons and synchrotron x-rays.
The event also featured 1-1 meetings and discussions in break-out groups. One group discussed how neutrons and x-rays could be used to develop Additive Manufacturing technologies by probing inside materials. To get the discussion going, a new BrightnESS video recorded at ISIS in January was shown.
BrightnESS partners Danish Technological Institute and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source (STFC) recently teamed up to shoot the video showing the potential for using neutrons for testing additive manufacturing components. DTI is the leading Danish organisation within development of metal AM for industry and ISIS has extensive experience in using the facility's Engin-X instrument for industrial AM testing.
