Danish and Swedish industry visit STFC
During the study trip, the participants visited the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, the Diamond Light Source and the Central Laser Facility. The visit also consisted of presentations by key people within procurement and technical areas at STFC. Senior Programme Manager Justin Greenhalgh, who is involved in BrightnESS Work Package 2 as an In-Kind Field Coordinator, presented the opportunities for Danish and Swedish suppliers to be involved in the UK ESS In-Kind deliveries.
“It was great to meet with the companies from the two ESS host countries of Denmark and Sweden. Although much of the UK In-Kind deliveries will be built in the UK, it is good to know that there are competent potential sub suppliers with close geographical proximity to the ESS facility,” says Justin Greenhalgh.
The visit was organised by the Interreg project ‘ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society’, which seeks to identify the regional opportunities that comes with having the two large facilities ESS and MAX IV in the Öresund region of Denmark and Sweden.
