First ESS Partner Day held in Lisbon
LISBON —Representatives of ESS provided an overview of the project and a status of the construction site in Lund, followed by an introduction to the In-kind and procurement processes to more than 35 participants at the Instituto Superior Técnico. ESS also presented further details of the Machine including the Target and the Accelerator, in addition to the Science at ESS, the Instruments and the opportunities for future users. These presentations were complemented by presentations from the Portuguese community including the Portuguese expertise in Accelerator areas such as instrumentation for Accelerator experiments, quality control in large research projects and high availability control and data acquisition systems for large-scale experiments, in addition to radiation protection. The programme closed with presentations on stimulating the Portuguese innovation potential and a meet and match session which provided an opportunity for one on one discussions between ESS, the Portuguese institutes and industry alike.
ESS is looking forward to working with Portuguese institutes and industry to identify future collaboration possibilities and embarking on the path towards a possible Portuguese membership in The European Spallation Source ERIC in the future.
