Sixth ILO Network Meeting Held at ESS
All ESS Partner Countries participated in the ILO Network meeting including representatives from Portugal and Turkey which joined for the first time as Observers.
ESS Director General James Yeck, provided an overall project update and the construction progress. The meeting continued with more in depth overview of each project. Head of Accelerator Division, Mats Lindroos, presented the ongoing Accelerator collaborations and open IKC work packages. Head of Target, Eric Pitcher gave a status update of the Target project, highlighting in particular the shielding work package. Head of Integrated Control Systems, Henrik Carling, summarised the replanning and open collaboration opportunities for his entire divison. Finally, NSS Project Leader, Shane Kennedy, offered a status of the Neutron Scattering System project with a focus on the delivery of the Neutron Guide Bunker which is on the critical path for mid 2016.
Additionally, there was an update on the Procurement and In-kind Contribution status by Meredith Shirey, Head of Procurement and Allen Weeks, Head of Communications, External Relations, and IKC Management, as well as a BrighntESS update, which included talks on “strengthening the ILO network” and “Capacity building in technology transfer” by Ute Gunsenheimer, Head of External Relations & EU Projects and Jonas Andersson, Senior Technology Transfer Officer. The fresh insight from the projects will provide the ILOs with information necessary to return to respective countries and initiate further discussions with industry and partners on collaboration opportunities at ESS.
Before closing the meeting Arne Jensen, Chair of the ILO Network, conducted a feedback session where the network participants jointly discussed and prepared consolidated feedback on how to improve the ILO network and explore new areas of opportunities. The sessions is valuable both for the ILO network, as well as to ESS as the network provides an opportunities for exchange.
The next ILO meeting will be held in September 2016. More details will follow.
