Girls Day at MTA EK
The scientific field presents a huge opportunity for women. In the EU, but also in the international level, the equal opportunities are missing regarding gender balance in job positions. Therefore, we have to tackle the gender stereotypes and biases that prevent the women for choosing the scientific fields.
The trends are not promising, according to a recent report from Hungary: the percentage of women in scientific jobs held only 27 per cent of all type of science jobs.
Breaking the stereotypes and creating meaningful access to science for girls and women must start early. On 26 April 2018, MTA EK joined the Hungarian NATE (Women in Science) in celebrating International Girls in Science Day.
The program covered main scientific fields at the MTA EK, promoting nanoscience and material science to the large infrastructures, the nuclear fields, the R&D biosensors projects etc.
Margit Fabian of BrightnESS WP6 held a lecture about the research opportunities at large infrastructures, where was presented the ESS as a world wide scientific infrastructure for the future research generations.
