RI.Logistica: Traveling on the Data Highway: The Digital Transition
The research infrastructure community consists of smaller facilities (10-20 people) to larger facilities (400-2000 people) that face many of the same problems when it comes to user and sample handling.
The current approach has largely grown organically over time, which has led to a scattered approach that is badly suited to supporting the scientific user community. Many of today’s scientist will visit multiple research infrastructures in order to conduct their experiments and in doing so will face a broad range of different approaches when it comes to logistics. This can result in additional costs and effort.
In this Session 8 of the RI.Logistica conference, we will address the challenges and opportunities that come with an ever-increasing digital landscape. We will hear from the industry and the research world just how important data and new digital platforms are and how they are being optimised to positively impact the supply chain.
How have new technologies changed our way of working? Where are big data’s blind spots in the supply chain? How is innovation being driven forward to maintain a competitive edge? Our speakers will address these and many more curious questions.
Join us on 20 May 2021 between 13:00-14:15 CEST to discuss digital transition in logistics. The speakers and topics of this session are:
- The challenges of digitalization and how to overcome them, Mathias Parkhagen, Logistics & Supply Director, ELLOS Group
- Embracing technology, the role of digital platforms in today’s science and what the future holds, Luke Marsden, Data Manager, Nansen Legacy
- How data can transform organisations and enable new insights, Andreas Metzger, Deputy Secretary General, Big Data Value Association
- Moderator of this session will be Fabiana Fournier, Researcher in the IoT & Blockchain group, IBM Research Haifa
The RI.Logistica conference is an online event designed for research infrastructures, their users and collaborators, companies in the supply chain management, and governmental authorities to discuss all aspects of logistics critical for research facilities and laboratories.
