RI.Logistica: The Fast and the Furious: Delivering Science for Life
Important parameters to be considered include fragile samples (reduce shock), controlled atmosphere (e.g. packing samples under inert gas), and specific shipping temperatures (e.g. -20 vs -80 C). Quick delivery and proper storage of the material upon arrival is crucial. In addition to temperature, there is very little standardization agreed between research facilities for how samples should be mounted, packed and shipped for the best outcomes.
During Session 2 of the RI.Logistica conference titled “The Fast and the Furious: Delivering Science for Life”, we will hear from three different life science perspectives, including the pharmaceutical and logistics industries, as well as the research world, about the specific challenges they are faced with and how they overcome them.
Join us on 19 May 2021 for Session 2 between 11:15-12:30 CEST. The speakers and topics of this session are:
- Use cases for fragile, sensitive and perishable materials under controlled conditions, Sophie Zimmermann, Senior Scientist, moloX GmbH
- Preparation, execution and follow-up, Isabel Bento, Staff Scientist, European Molecular Biology Laboratory
- Defining, agreeing and implementing standard ways of shipping among large-scale facilities, Nathan De Valck, Chairman of Pharma Aero and Head of Cargo Product & Network Development at Brussels Airport Company, Pharma Aero
- Moderator of the session will be Anton Ussi, Operations & Finance Director, EATRIS
The RI.Logistica conference is an online event designed for research infrastructures, their users and collaborators, companies in the supply chain management, and governmental authorities to discuss all aspects of logistics critical for research facilities and laboratories.
