From the organisers:
With this workshop we want to encourage lively discussions around recent and future developments concerning single crystal spectroscopy on neutron triple-axis and time-of-flight spectrometers. The workshop will take place in the conference center L’Escandille, Autrans, France, with accommodation on-site, leaving plenty of space for discussions in the relaxing atmosphere of the French Vercors mountains. The traditionally strong scientific case on the neutron spectrometers has to be carried forward and constantly enlarged by a motivated community. In the meanwhile, the European neutron landscape is changing significantly, with strong impact on neutron spectroscopy, which might raise questions on the mid- and long-term future experimental possibilities. We suggest to bring together present science and expectations with latest technological progress around various instruments. We will emphasize in this workshop the following three topics: + New algorithms for data acquisition and data treatment, including Machine Learning based concepts. + Recent innovation on instruments, sample environment and simulation methods. + New science on single crystal spectrometers. We intend to invite experts for giving introductions into the various topics, with large space for discussions in the following. Especially the sessions dedicated to New Algorithms will be new to most of us and we invite users, especially students as the future generation, to take an active role in the discussions. We encourage you to send your comments, expectations or questions already now to our workshop email address i2ns [at] ill.fr. Your input will be taken up during one of the discussion sessions. Beside some fixed points in the program, we also foresee time for contributed talks and a poster session. Details for the abstract submission you will find here. We are looking forward to meeting you in Autrans.
