General Assembly approves project progress
The event brought together 16 partners from Europe and South Africa to align on the project objectives and present concise progress reports with results achieved during 2020.
The meeting was opened by ESS Director General, John Womersley, who gave an update on ESS. "Despite the many challenges of 2020, ESS has continued to make significant progress on delivering the project," he said. A short video showcasing some of the ESS achievements is available here.
Presentations by leaders of all Work Packages followed. One of the highlights of the event was a talk delivered by Lambert van Eijck from the European Neutron Scattering Association (ENSA). Lambert presented results of a survey conducted by ENSA which collected 13.500 inter-related answers and comments to identify the needs of the neutron user community in Europe. A report on the survey results will be available by the end of the project in the section with project Deliverables.
All slides are available on the event's Indico page.
The General Assembly approved the technical and financial progress presented for the project's second year of operation.
At the end of the meeting, the participants enjoyed an online Lucia concert to mark the festive season.
