Sandra Cabeza
Sandra Cabeza works at ILL as the co-manager of the instrument SALSA (Stress Analyser for Large Scaled engineering Applications), the world-leading neutron diffractometer for the non-destructive mapping of bulk strain/stress-fields within materials and engineering structures. As part of the Diffraction & Industrial Liaison Unit at ILL, her research focuses in materials science, with emphasis in residual stress analysis. Sandra also leads various industrial collaborations regarding advanced characterization with neutrons.
Before joining ILL in 2017, Sandra worked as a project leader for synchrotron and neutron diffraction at the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in Berlin. She received her PhD from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
In the Brightness2 project, Sandra is working on the engineering pilot project in work package 2, which aims to establish a Neutron Quality Label standard for strain scanning of engineering materials across different facilities.
