Jacques Jestin
Jacques Jestin took over as director of the science division at the ILL on 1 October 2021. He came to ILL in May 2020 to lead its Technical Division (DPT). Previously, Jacques led the large-scale structures group at CEA/CNRS’s Laboratoire Léon Brillouin in Saclay, but his links with the ILL go back a long way. He has developed research in the fields of nanocomposites and industrial and natural complex fluids with a combination of small angle neutron and X-ray scattering, and specific deuteration. He was responsible for SANS instruments at the LLB and was scientific responsible for the SANS SKADI project at ESS. He has established collaborations with national academic (Institut de Chimie Radicalaire in Marseille) and international (Chemical engineering in Columbia University in New York) partners as well as with industrial partners (Michelin, Institut Français du Pétrole IFPEN, Solvay).
For three years he was a member of Subcommittee 9 of the ILL Scientific Council. Jacques will also become French Associate Director of the ILL on 1 October 2022.
