Mauro Zambelli
Mauro Zambelli is In-Kind Group Leader at the European Spallation Source ERIC since January 2019. Before he joined ESS he was General Coordinator at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, holding that position from 2013 until the end of 2018.
Mauro received his degree in Electronic Engineering in 1977 from Genoa University in Italy.
Already since 1975 and for the subsequent 15 years he acted as a designer and technologist in the field of power semiconductor devices, solar cells and silicon sensors for high energy physics, having the responsibility of the relevant R&D group in a major Italian electromechanical company.
In 1990 Mauro left the company to start his own activities, establishing start-ups offering products and services in the field of power electronics, photovoltaic conversion of solar energy, data acquisition, process and quality control, quality and management consulting.
His constant activity with universities and research institutes, specifically on R&D, knowledge and technology transfer, and innovation, brought him in 2005 to be called by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste to work in the frame of the local Industrial Liason Office.
In 2006 he participated in the establishment of Kyma Srl, an industrial spin-off company of Elettra, dedicated to the realization of insertion devices (undulators and wigglers) for light source facilities, that he managed, as CEO, from 2007 to 2018.
Since 2004 Mauro holds a position as a contract professor at the University of Genoa, teaching quality management, quality assurance and control for scientists, in the frame of a course of studies in materials science and engineering.
